Erdi Dasdemir (Ph.D.)

Data and Optimization Scientist Assistant Professor

I am a Ph.D. in Operations Research, and an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering at Hacettepe University. In both 2019 and 2022, I took visiting faculty positions at the University at Buffalo to engage in research activities. My research focuses mainly on mathematical optimization, multi-objective optimization, and evolutionary algorithms, with the main application domains being supply chain problems and the routing problems of both manned and unmanned vehicles. I have publications in well-known academic journals and have given talks at more than fifteen international conferences. I am also actively cooperating with business partners on their practical optimization and data science problems.

I have a keen interest in computer programming for data science and mathematical optimization. I have used R for a variety of projects for over nine years, performing numerous analytical computations, such as analysis, prediction, optimization and visualizations. I am proficient in Python, and lately I have found myself consistently writing code in it more and more recently. Additionally, I have sufficient knowledge for myself in HTML/CSS, PHP, SQL, and JavaScript. I usually use LATEX for preparing documents, particularly manuscripts. I have also been using the GUROBI solver extensively for mathematical optimization.
